Welcome to the Sassafras Mountain Estates Property Owners Association Website.

The Sassafras Mountain Estates Property Owners Association was formed to represent the collective interests of property owners and to maintain our private roads. We are located about an hour north of Atlanta near Mount Oglethorpe and across from Amicalola Falls. Many homes enjoy year round views of the area's mountain ranges, cascading waterfalls, spring fed streams, or nearby Dawson Forest. There are several walking trails in the area to enjoy nature.

This web site was produced and is maintained by Sassafras Mountain Estates Property Owners Association, Inc., the managing entity that has assumed responsibility for maintaining the Sassafras Mountain community and, as best we can, preserving the property values of our community. This web site also provides general information for any interested party looking for a mountain retreat.  We trust that you will find it useful as a tool to learn more about the Sassafras Mountain community itself as well as local resources in the surrounding area.

Sassafras Road Crew Stripes Again
Posted on Sep 4th, 2022
Last month you may have seen some of the SMEPOA board members along with some helpful neighbors out striping our roads for the upcoming winter fog. These concerned residents went out of their way to help save our community precious money by renting the equipment and buying the reflective paint and crystals to help light our way home. Eileen Miller drove across the state to pick up the only machine available to help complete this project. The grueling work of pushing and pulling the heavy striping machine up and down our steep roads while hand pouring the crystals into the paint was done by several of our residents. Please give a huge shout out to Paul Miller who organized and headed up the project, Mark McDonnell, Kenneth Tate, Richard Russell, and Rich Howard who all labored to complete the project.

While out striping the roads Kenneth Tate along with several of the others filled pot holes and patched cracks along the roads. If you are interested in helping with future projects please contact Paul Miller at info.smepoa@gmail.com

Lastly, our roads will continue to deteriorate without additional funding for repairs. Please consider donating to our road funds. Also, we recently purchased orange cones for safety to mark potholes and repairs. These cones have gone missing. If you know of their whereabouts please contact the board. We are working diligently to keep costs down and be frugal with our donations.
